Cava is Catalonia-born sparkling wine and can be as fine and delicate, if not better, than its Champagne sibling.

You will visit two wine cellars set in the beautiful Penedès wine and cava country, including the only cellar where you can make your own cava.

    All about the Make your own cava.

    The Denomination of Origin Penedès wine region which is renowned for its sparkling cava production as well as for its wide variety of still wines. This area produces most of the cava in Spain.

    You will visit two cellars; the 1st one where we have a cava making experience with a cava taste, and complement the day with a second wine cellar and wine taste, as to compare and gain a better insight of the region.

    In the 1st cellar you will have a hands-on experience. Dressed up with a coat, helmet and gloves to handle tools and become an artisan for the job of making your our own sparkling wine bottle of cava by awaking it from its long sleep, uncorking it carefully avoiding spillage, corking it back up using all the tools required and wrap it all yourself.

    We also visit a 2nd wine cellar chosen for its innovative Organic wine making process, whilst enjoying of the most extraordinary view of their organic vineyards close by. This wine cellar was one of the first organic wine cellars in Spain, following strict rules at planting and harvest time, adhering to the organic wine making guidelines.

    Bring comfortable flat shoes, tennis, loafers, sandals or flip flops; best to avoid heels.

    Some walking by vineyards may involve stepping on soil and mud and although no need for closed toe shoes, please note that fabric shoes may get stained.

    Bring sunglasses, a hat or cap may be suitable and comfortable clothing.

    Bear in mind that you will be provided with bottles of water, so no need to bring extra weight on you.

    An unforgettable day! The whole day was perfect. Mariana who takes care of the small details, makes you feel very special. We visited two of the most singular wine cellars, one where Eric the winemaker takes you back to the times where the emphasis was on a job well done, stating the importance on the connection with nature. The second winery was peaceful and relaxing, as well as beautiful. We ate at a local restaurant of traditional Catalan food. I recommend the tour to anyone who may want to have an exceptional experience.
